With all nonessential stores closed for business, thousands of Long Islanders are trying to get by without a paycheck, some dipping into their savings while others are banking on the government for assistance. We asked people to share their stories and the responses poured in.

According to The Knot, there are 845,000 weddings scheduled in the U.S. from March to May, this year. But as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, couples here in New York and across the world have had to call an audible on their nuptials.

MTA to reduce subway, bus, railroad service

Ridership on New York's subways, buses, and commuter railroads has plummeted more than 80% since authorities took drastic steps to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus amid a global pandemic. And now the MTA has announced that it will begin reducing service on Wednesday in response to that drop. 

Long Island authorities accepting donations of medical supplies

The number of positive COVID-19 cases jumped to 2,869 with one new death in Nassau County. Suffolk County has at least 1,880 confirmed cases and four new deaths. Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy Sini is one of the latest officials to test positive for the virus.

Several Long Island facilities close due to coronavirus outbreak

Medical experts say the vast majority of patients who have tested positive for the virus on Long Island are improving. They stress the importance of social distancing—not getting too close to other people—and staying home if you're feeling sick.
