Duarte Geraldino

Reporter

Duarte Geraldino is an award-winning journalist who joined FOX 5 NY in 2024 — but at heart, he’s just a Bronx guy who loves boxing. One of the things you look for in a good fight is fairness. Are the opponents equally matched? Do they have comparable training, natural gifts, height, weight, and resources? Are the stakes the same for both? Life is like a boxing match, and through his journalism, Duarte helps create fair matches in all sorts of rings: one story, one interview, one report, or one in-depth explanation at a time.

Over the years, Duarte has sat down with newsmakers, politicians, and everyday people facing life-changing decisions — documenting how they use their power. His career includes hosting shows on CBS 880, anchoring evenings at Cheddar News, helping launch Apple News Today, and guest-hosting programs for WNYC and NPR. Earlier, he served as Deputy Managing Business Editor at Al Jazeera Digital, where he shaped coverage and mentored other journalists.

His reporting has appeared on PBS NewsHour, WNYC, and KCRW, covering the U.S. housing crisis, economic inequality, and the experiences of underrepresented communities. His work has taken him from the Bronx to Nigeria to Los Angeles, always focused on uncovering the stories behind the statistics.

Facing proposed U.S. tariffs that could double the price of Italian pasta, the former Vatican chef has turned away from imports entirely — and back to the art of handmade pasta.
