E. Coli outbreak forces school closures

Class is canceled Monday for three Long Beach, Long Island elementary schools. The school district?s Superintendent says, ?a student who lives within the city limits was diagnosed with a suspected E.coli infection this week.?

Kids from hospital go surfing

Surf's up at Skudin Surf in Long Beach where patients at the Hospital for Special Surgery spent the day on the sand. And it is just as special for the parents as it is for the kids. Many of the kids are paralyzed on land, but in the water, they're just like everyone else. Cerebral palsy didn't stop Alexandria Vega from catching the big one. She said this was her first time surfing on a surf board instead of a boogie board.

LIRR Derailed in Long Beach

MTA Chairman Joe Lhota told reporters late Tuesday morning that the Long Island Rail Road train that appeared to have gone of the track in Long Beach during the morning rush had in fact derailed.

Long Beach: Stay off rock jetties

A Long Island community that was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy wants beachgoers to stay away from jetties. You can sit next to or take pictures in front of the jetties in Long Beach, but don't go on them. The rocks are to protect the coastline. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is building them up as part of a multimillion project expected to be finished spring.
