At an MTA board meeting Wednesday, MTA Chairman Joe Lhota said the agency has "a clear and urgent need for new and consistent revenues." A New York City street has been renamed in honor of a police officer who was ambushed and killed last year in a parked police vehicle. What is now Detective Miosotis Familia Way is part of Ryer Avenue by the Bronx stationhouse where Familia worked. A renaming ceremony was held Thursday, the anniversary of her death.

Therese Okoumou, who goes by Patricia, walked out of federal court a free woman the day after scaling the Statue of Liberty to protest President Donald Trump's immigration policy. Her protest forced the evacuation of liberty island on one of its busiest days of the year?the 4th of July holiday. Okoumo, a naturalized U.S. citizen originally from the Republic of Congo, pled not guilty to misdemeanor charges of trespassing, disorderly conduct, and interference with government function.

A woman climbed the exterior of the structure of the Statue of Liberty and then sat down by one of the statue's feet around 4 p.m., authorities said. U.S. Park Police and NYPD officers spent hours trying to talk her down. She spent some time sitting, lying, and moving around the base. At one point, she removed her sneakers and tried to climb higher on the statue but wasn't able to get any higher.

With its new program rolling out Thursday, contractors around the country can launch businesses that deliver Amazon packages. Arrests in Bronx murder

Police have made several arrests in connection with last week's killing of a 15-year-old boy at a Bronx bodega. The NYPD arrested Kevin Alvarez, 19, of the Bronx, on Sunday. He was charged with murder and gang assault. Law enforcement sources told Fox 5 News that police in New Jersey took three suspects into custody. A fifth suspect was reportedly picked up in the Dominican Republic.

Yankees honor 101-year-old retired cop

Fox 5 first reported about Nick Calabrese in May. At 101, he is the oldest living retired NYPD detective and was honored by the Detectives Endowment Association. The Yankees heard about Nick and invited him to Yankee Stadium for a special visit.
