For those with facial differences, research reveals that over a quarter of people with a disfigurement have experienced a hate crime. It's why Brooklyn-based Artist and Teacher Celina Leroy is using her work to not only raise awareness about the subject, but to also end the stigma surrounding facial differences. And, they have been presenting live dance, music, theater, and other performance-based art throughout Brooklyn for over 35 years. Now, 651 Arts is celebrating a new milestone! They now have a permanent home, a cultural performance space with hopes of having a positive impact on the community for many more years to come! Executive Director Toya Lillard talks about how the space will impact the community.
