Fort Hood soldiers from New York area killed in floods

Two of the 9 soldiers who died in Texas flooding last week were from the tri-state area.

Private Tysheena Lynette James, 21, of Jersey City and Staff Sergeant Miguel Colon Vazquez, 38, of Brooklyn were killed after floodwaters caused their army truck to flip over at Fort Hood.

Officials say their two-ton vehicle was trying to get through a low-water crossing on Thursday during a training exercise, when it was washed away by fast-moving flood waters.
