Judge refuses to let Kesha out of Sony contract

NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - A New York State Supreme Court judge sided with Sony Music on Friday, saying pop singer Kesha could not be let out of her contract with the music label, at least for now.

Kesha, 28, filed a lawsuit in 2014 accusing music producer Dr. Luke (Lukasz Gottwald) of sexual, emotional and verbal assault.

The 'Tik Tok' singer had asked the judge to issue a preliminary injunction that would prevent Sony from forcing her to work with Dr. Luke and to cancel her contracts, which call for six more albums.

Dr. Luke, who has exclusive rights to make music with the singer, has denied the allegations.

According to TMZ.com, Kesha openly wept inside the courtroom as the judge issued her decision.

A group of supporters gathered on Centre St. in Lower Manhattan. The rally was promoted via social media using #FreeKesha.

Fans also created an online petition demanding that Sony voluntarily allow her out of her contract.

Kesha, whose real name is Kesha Rose Sebert, took to Instagram and Twitter hours before the announcement to share messages for her fans.

Some celebs, including Lady Gaga, showed their support.
