8-year-old boy missing from school found wandering on subway tracks

A Brooklyn school reported an 8-year-old boy missing Tuesday and 20 minutes later he was found walking along the tracks at a subway station, police said.

The boy was supposed to be at Brooklyn Excelsior Charter School on Quincy Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant. But instead of being in class, he was strolling along the L train tracks at the Halsey Street stop, about a mile and a half away. Commuters grabbed him off the tracks and held him until cops responded.

Officers brought the boy to Woodhull Hospital for an evaluation.

The hospital later released the boy to his parents.
