NYPD Detective Dalsh Veve got a hero's send-off as he left the Kessler Rehabilitation Institute in West Orange, New Jersey, with his 3-year-old daughter on his lap and his wife Esther at his side. On June 3, 2017, Veve was investigating gunfire reports and started to question a teen suspect who sped off in a stolen car. Police said the car dragged Veve three blocks, but the officer managed to get off two shots.

A livery cab driver who was shot several times and survived has been reunited with the cops who saved his life. The cabbie brought flowers to the 43rd Precinct in the Bronx on Wednesday to show his appreciation. It was an emotional reunion with hugs, flowers, and tears of joy. Jeffery Cisneros Camacho, 26, thanked God and his two angels?Police Officers Sean Higgins and Jennifer Nicalek?for saving his life.

This class had plenty of inspiration on the path to becoming New York's Bravest. The class featured two third-generation firefighters. But for the first time in the FDNY's 153-year history, a child followed in his mother's footsteps.

Philip Eng's visit to the Mineola train station on Tuesday was far from smooth. Monday's heavy rain pelted New York City. The rainwater had to go somewhere. So some of it ended up in the subway system. Rain came gushing down from the ceiling at the Bryant Park station. The F and M lines skipped the station as water flowed down through the grates above. Crews were busy removing trash and debris off the drains as the rainwater continued to pour in.

A car jumped the curb and slammed into a crowd of pedestrians in Flatbush, Brooklyn, Friday night. The incident happened at Flatbush and Farragut Avenues at about 8:45 p.m. At least 13 people were hurt, the FDNY said. Two of them are in extremely critical condition. The driver and passenger were also taken to the hospital.

Family, friends and the Canarsie community gathered on Thursday night at the scene of the crime to remember Brandy Odom. The 26-year-old's dismembered body was found in Canarsie Park in Brooklyn on Monday evening. A dog walker found Odom's head and naked torso covered in leaves, police said. Her arms and legs were later discovered nearby. The NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline is offering $10,000 for any information that helps solve this heinous crime.

'Neighborhood' policing on subways
