Yankees honor NJ schoolchildren

About 60 kids from southern boulevard school in Chatham, New Jersey, took over the Yankee Stadium press room as a reward for a job well done. The students helped various charities in New Jersey.

The Yankees honored the kids efforts as part of annual Hope Week, which recognizes goodwill gestures.

The kids also participated in a back-to-school drive to benefit disadvantaged students in other school districts. It was held during the Yankees game against the Minnesota Twins.

Didi Gregorius, Luis Severino, Carlos Beltran and bench coach Rob Thompson represented the bombers. Beltran expressed the team sentiment in acknowledging the kids for being considerate of others.

For many of the kids it was their first time visiting the legendary ballpark, something every kid should experience at least once in their lifetime.
