Video: cops beat man in bodega

Video of a man inside a grocery store appears to show him surrendering to police before two NYPD officers beat him and then place him in handcuffs.

The video, obtained by the NY Daily News, shows the man put up both his hands, but the cops throw punches and strike him with a baton.

Thomas Jennings, an aspiring hip-hop artist, suffered cuts above his eye, reported the Daily News.

The Brooklyn District Attorney's office is reportedly investigating the cops’ use of force against Jennings on July 7 in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

The incident began at a pizzeria where Jennings and another man allegedly threatened an employee with a switchblade knife before running off without paying for a slice of pizza.

The police officers caught up with Jennings inside the grocery store on Bainbridge St. where the security camera footage captured the beating.
