Turmoil in Venezuela prompts rally in New York

Activists outside the consulate of Venezuela in Manhattan lead a march to Trump Tower Thursday evening. Many of the people aren't from Venezuela but all are critical of possible U.S. government efforts to oust the Maduro regime.

The South American country has fractured along party lines following an election described as tainted. Socialist president Nicolas Maduro and opposition leader Juan Guaido are both claiming to be the head of state. Guaido even swore himself in before a crowd of hundreds of thousands. He has the backing of the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Argentina.

Maduro, who is closely linked to the late dictator Hugo Chavez, still controls the military and has support from Russia and China. He posted an online rant against U.S. intervention with the hashtag #yankeegohome.
