A gas leak in Manhattan forced the evacuation of Tribeca Synagogue and another building Thursday evening, officials said.

Con Edison said that an outside gas leak on White Street near Broadway was to blame. Con Edison workers located the source of the leak and were working to fit it.

The FDNY said about 50 people were cleared out from the two-story synagogue as well as apartments just after 6 p.m.
