Train collision disrupts LIRR service
A collision between two trains at Jamaica Station in Queens disrupted Long Island Rail Road service Friday evening, according to authorities.
The MTA said an "equipment problem" prompted suspension of westbound service between Jamaica and Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn, and between Jamaica and Penn Station in Manhattan. Service was resorted a few hours later, but delays persisted into nighttime.
A rider named Bryan Fields posted photos from inside a passenger train showing several cracked windows.
"I'm in absolute disbelief that we are all ok," he tweeted.
An MTA official said no one was hurt. Officials were investigating how the trains were able to sideswipe each other.
