Stonie dethrones Chestnut at Nathan's 99th annual Hot Dog Eating Contest

A new champ has been crowned in Coney Island.

Matthew “Megatoad” Stonie devoured 62 hot dogs and buns in just 10 minutes at Nathan’s 99th annual International Hot Dog Eating Contest.

The event happened at Brooklyn’s Coney Island on Saturday.   Longtime champion Joey Chestnut came close at a tally of 60.

Nathan's was started in 1916 by Polish immigrant Nathan Handwerker.

According to NathansFamous.com, Nathan started a nickel hot dog stand on Coney Island with a $300 loan from two friends and his wife’s secret spice recipe.

Today, Nathan's is a huge brand with restaurants across the globe, products in every supermarket in America and millions of fans.

And the first Coney Island restaurant is still there today.
