Single to smitten by the holidays

Being single can be tough this time of year; especially if you get a little pressure about it from your family.

Here’s how to go from single to smitten in just a few weeks.

We’ve been through the holidays. We've been through thanksgiving with the family, and we keep getting that question, “Have you met anybody nice?” Well, we're sick of that question, aren't we? We’re going to meet somebody nice and we're going do it in time for Christmas dinner. We'll give the family something to talk about.

“If you have a month between November and December, that's a timeline. I think it's important that you set realistic goals for yourself," said Julia Armet, Director of Operations for Tawkify.

With just four weeks to shove love in our family's faces, professional advice was needed.

Matchmakers Julia Armet and Amaris Crawford said step one was to pick your top 3 priorities in life and stick to them.

"I think if you hold yourself up to the three values that are most important to you, you're more likely to set yourself up for success," said Armet.

Step two: Be bold!

"Don't be afraid to approach that interesting person with the weird glasses, or if someone drops something on the ground, don't be afraid to pick it up and hand it to them and give them a smile if you think they're cute," said Amaris Crawford, a matchmaker at Tawkify

If that's too intense, let the internet break the ice.

Niki Larsen manages a few dating apps and she said to get specific about your interests in your bio, and use your profile pictures to tell a story.

"If you want to show that your dog is really important in your life, then have a picture with your dog. If something like politics is a deal breaker, and then have something that displays your politics, you can use your profile pictures to really say who you are," she said.

Also money equals commitment.

Paid apps are full of people who are more serious about making a commitment, and paying for a matchmaking service puts a neutral third party to work for you.

"Let him or her know that you have this goal in mind. You're looking for that right person and have her help you with that goal setting and manage your expectations as well," said Crawford.

Of course, things still might not work out.

If you're still single by Christmas, you can always get philosophical with your family.

"Your happiness is the most important thing. That's not your family's happiness"
