Report: Roy Moore accused of sexual contact with teens
A woman is accusing U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore of initiating sexual contact with her when she was a teenager. Moore is the Republican nominee for next month's Senate election in Alabama.
The woman told The Washington Post that Moore had a sexual encounter with her back in 1979, when she was 14 and he was 32. The newspaper also interviewed three other women who said Moore pursued them when they were between the ages of 16 and 18 and he was in his early 30s.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other senators said if the allegations are true, Moore, now 70, must step aside.
Moore's campaign issuing a statement saying the allegations are "completely false" and calling the Washington Post story a "baseless political attack."
"After over 40 years of public service, if any of these allegations were true, they would have been made public long before now," the campaign said.
