Power has been restored after an outage affected flights at Reagan National Airport Wednesday night, authorities said.

Inbound and outbound flights were temporarily suspended due to the outage, according to Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority spokesperson Andrew Trull.

Trull said two separate feeds provided to the airport by Dominion Energy stopped providing electricity and impacted the entire airport.

“We do have backup generators right now that are providing emergency power for passengers in terminal along with essential services related to the airport,” said Trull.

Several people on Twitter posted photos and video of the lights being out inside the airport when the power outage happened.

“Our engineers are in consultation with Dominion Virginia Power to ensure power is restored as soon as possible," Trull said.

At 10:41 p.m., the airport tweeted that flights were operating, but the outage has slowed down the process for passengers to board and deplane.

Just after 11 p.m., Dominion Energy said power was fully restored to the airport and it is working on determining the root cause of the outage.
