Olympic gold medalist Jessie Diggins visits NYC

NEW YORK (FOX5NY.COM) - Fresh off the slopes of PyeongChang, Olympic gold medalist Jessie Diggins has made her way to the Big Apple.

"It's been really, really cool just being able to share this experience and share my sport with everyone," Jessie said.

The 26-year-old Minnesota native and her teammate Kikkan Randall won the U.S.'s first-ever cross-country skiing medal, earning gold in the freestyle team sprint event.

Jessie is in New York to show off her medal and talk to us about how she felt when she crossed the finish line, which she refers to as her "unicorn moment."

"A unicorn moment is when you have a big breakthrough moment—when you've had a lot of confidence and belief and you've accomplished a huge goal," she said.

She is also making good use of her time in New York, tasting chocolate at the Hershey's store in Times Square and hoping to spread a message of confidence to girls with big dreams across the world.

"If you love what you're doing, you just have to believe in yourself and work hard and just enjoy the journey," Jessie said.

She will participate in the World Cup starting November. She also has her eyes set on the 2022 Beijing winter Olympic Games. Of course, hoping to win another gold.
