NYPD traffic agent rams car into several vehicles in Queens

NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - The NYPD is investigating why a traffic enforcement supervisor rammed a departmental vehicle into several cars in Queens on Saturday.

Video footage from security cameras on 37th Avenue in Flushing show what unfolded at about 3:20 p.m. A white Toyota Prius from the NYPD's Traffic Enforcement District was stopped in traffic for about 45 seconds. Then it surged and slammed into the car in front. Then the Prius backed up and crashed into the car behind it. It then plowed once again into the car in front, tearing off part of his own front bumper, and then smashed into a parked van.

A traffic supervisor was behind the wheel, the NYPD said. That supervisor got out of the damaged Toyota and apparently radioed for help.

The traffic supervisor "appeared disoriented," according to a police spokesperson. Medics brought the supervisor to a hospital for medical evaluation.
