NYPD lieutenant dies from 9/11 related cancer

Funeral services were held Sunday for an NYPD lieutenant who died of a 9/11 related illness.
Marci Simms was diagnosed with lung cancer after she spent 4 months at Ground Zero.

She lost her battle with cancer on Thursday at her home on Long Island.

Her medical costs were covered by the James Zadora Act.

According to officials, around 2,500 Ground Zero rescuers and responders have come down with cancer, and a growing number are still seeking compensation for their illnesses.
