NYPD: Cop wounded by pellet

A police detective was treated for a wound to his head Wednesday, likely caused by a BB fired at him from somewhere, the NYPD said.

The detective was with another officer in a police vehicle on 168 Street in Jamaica, Queens, when he was struck in the forehead at about 5:10 p.m. by a "projectile," police said. He suffered a puncture wound.

The cops drove to Jamaica Hospital, where the wounded officer was listed in stable condition.

Dozens of police officers mobilized to search for the person who fired the BB or pellet. Police have not yet made any arrests.
