NYC alternate-side parking rules suspended through Jan. 10

The powerful nor'easter that dumped several inches of snow on the New York area on Thursday is long gone but the headache of the aftermath of a good snowstorm remains. And that includes the chore of digging out one's car.

The dramatically cold temperatures blanketing New York City are making things worse because the mounds of snow plowed and blown onto parked cars have iced over.

That prompted city officials to suspend alternate-side parking regulations through Wednesday, January 10, 2018, giving extra time to vehicle owners to dig out and sanitation workers to clear streets.

But remember: all other regulations, including parking meters, remain in effect. So if you left your car at a metered spot expect to get ticketed.
