New York department stores' dazzling holiday windows

New York City's holiday windows dazzle and delight. Every year, each store has a theme. Lord and Taylor's theme is "Enchanted Forest." Under the canopy of greenery and twinkling lights, the windows are filled with a mix of forest creatures.

Bergdorf Goodman's theme is "Destination Extraordinary." Even in the freezing cold, these colorful windows draw you in. Prickly cacti exist amid haute couture. Giant grasshoppers make you do a double take. It seemed everyone wanted a picture.

Just a few blocks away, Barneys is feeling the love, peace and joy, which also happens to be the theme. In the past, the luxury retailer has made a tradition of ditching the traditional, and this year is no exception. Cartman, Kyle and Kenny from the TV show "South Park" all make an appearance.

Macy's wins the prize for the most kid friendly holiday windows. The theme is "The Magic of the Holiday Season." Many of the windows are interactive. One window is a giant pinball machine. But you don't have to be a kid to love them. As you can imagine, the second these windows come down Macy's begins working on the ones for the year ahead.

Don't miss your chance to own a little holiday magic. Bloomingdale's theme is "Light" so the store is auctioning off all eight of the one of a kind chandeliers in its windows.

At Saks Fifth Avenue, you'll find the "Land of 1000 Delights": jumbo swirled lollipops and high fashion. The 6 animated windows along Fifth Avenue are based on "The Nutcracker." Here are a few stats: 2,000 oversize candy ornaments, 12,851 linear feet of garland, and 4,678 square feet of foliage all make it all come to life. These windows draw an international crowd.
