MTA rolls out high-heel friendly grates, or are they?

Many women in New York City have experienced getting their heels stuck in subway grates. So the Metropolitan Transportation Authority thought it help alleviate the dilemma by installing new grates.

The grate openings on 55th St. between Park Ave. and Madison Ave.are now only an half-inch apart and are made of slid resistant material.

But for thin heels like stilettos, the grates won't help.

The high-heel friendly grates can also be found at 63rd St. and 96th St.in Manhattan.
