Models debate who is a supermodel

It all started when actress and model Rebecca Romijn said in an interview that models like Kendall and Gigi were not "TRUE supermodels" and categorized them only as social media stars. And then model Stephanie Seymour joined the conversation about Gigi and Kendall in a Vanity Fair interview.

Cindy Crawford Naomi Campbell and Kate moss are just a few women who are certainly supermodels, but with a new generation of models like Kendall and Gigi getting famous on social media, some are questioning their supermodel status.

While Rebecca Romijn posted a tweet as a peace offering to Gigi and Kendall, Kendall shared her views on her own website saying quote "Obviously, I have so much respect for those women, but right now, we're the models of this time."

And then Stephanie Seymour followed up with an Instagram saying that she only meant for her comment to be a joke and saying: "Bravo to both Gigi and Kendall for their success!!"

And finally supermodel Tyra Banks joined the conversation to make peace between the generations of beautiful faces.

The whole fashion industry has been getting involved in this debate. Even designer Marc Jacobs weighed in crowning Kendall with the supermodel title on his Instagram.

The final test will be to see if the new models stay successful for decades like the original supermodels have.
