Missing 9-year-old boy with autism found dead in Inglewood park swimming pool

Within hours after Inglewood police asked for public help to find a missing autistic 9-year-old boy, his body was found in a park swimming pool, authorities said Monday.

Zavire Portis, who could not speak, last was seen about 3:55 p.m. Sunday at Vincent Park, 700 E. Warren Lane in Inglewood, police said.

Police said the mother told them she pulled the car over at the park to get a drink of water and when she returned the boy was gone.

Two siblings in the car were also special needs children and couldn't provide information to investigators.

Police used a helicopter and bloodhound to search the area to no avail until they received a report that the boy's body was found about 9:50 p.m. in a pool at Vincent Park, reports said.

Anyone with information on the case was asked call Inglewood police at 310-412-5206. Tipsters also can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
