Michael Moore protests 'R' rating for new documentary
NEW YORK (AP) — Michael Moore is protesting the "R'' rating given to his upcoming documentary "Where to Invade Next" by the Motion Picture Association of America.
Moore says in a statement Monday that the MPAA gave his film an "R'' rating for "language, some violent images, drug use and brief graphic nudity." In the film, Moore travels abroad to co-opt civic ideas he believe would help the United States.
The filmmaker, though, believes the MPAA has it out for him. He suggested the intended label is: "This movie contains dangerous ideas that the 99 percent may find upsetting and lead them to revolt. Teens will be the most agitated when they learn they will soon be $80,000 in debt just by going to school."
Representatives for the MPAA didn't immediately return messages Monday.
