Someone hung a giant banner emblazoned with the face of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the Manhattan Bridge Thursday. The banner reads "Peacemaker" and shows the Russian and Syrian flags

Gothamist spotted the banner from Brooklyn and captured several photos of the banner. The New York Post reported that witnesses said the banner was unfurled before 2 p.m.

Police officers removed the banner at about 2:30 p.m., the NYPD said. Police have "secured" the banner as evidence but have not made any arrests.
