Hawk flies into Manhattan home

NEW YORK (FOX 5 NEWS) - A red-tailed hawk flew into the window of a home on the Upper East Side of Manhattan Monday, police said.

Police officers with the Emergency Service Unit responded to the home on East 69th Street to capture the bird of prey, police said. The NYPD's Special Operations Division tweeted that Police Officer Hunt and Detective Moncayo of the ESU managed to free the bird, which was stuck between two panes of glass, and capture him.

An expert with Animal Care Centers of NYC examined the bird and made sure it was not harmed. He then released the hawk, according to Deputy Inspector Clint McPherson, the commanding officer of the 19th Precinct.
