NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Anyone who drives into, around and out of New York City during the holiday season (or when the President is in town) knows what gridlock is and knows it's best to avoid it. 

Knowing when and where to anticipate major traffic delays and tie-ups is a motorist's best weapon.

Here are the designated Gridlock Alert Days for the remainder of 2015:

Wednesday, December 2
Friday, December 4
Friday, December 11
Wednesday, December 16
Thursday, December 17
Friday, December 18
Wednesday, December 23

Use mass transit or walk when possible.

Some of the most crowded and congested streets and roads are popular tourist spots and shopping hubs.
