Man accused of punching girl arrested in NYC
A suspect, identified as Jean Carlos Zarzuela, is accused of punching a 9-year-old girl in the face at Grand Central Terminal. FOX 5 NY’s Briella Tomassetti has the latest.
NEW YORK CITY - A man was arrested for allegedly punching a 9-year-old girl in the face Saturday at Grand Central Terminal, MTA police said.
According to police, the girl was standing near her mother in the dining concourse just before noon when the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Jeancarlos Zarzuela, approached and punched her.
Zarzuela fled the scene, but was apprehended later that night after police released surveillance photos of him.
Nearby officers helped the young girl, who was taken to NYU Langone-Tisch Hospital for treatment of pain and dizziness. She's expected to be OK.
The alleged attacker is known to police. Court records show Zarzuela was arrested on April 4 and charged with assault, reckless endangerment and harassment for allegedly punching another victim at Grand Central Terminal. He was released without bail.
Zarzuela is currently being charged with felony assault in this case, but additional charges are possible, MTA officials said.
