Glendale man makes 'out of this world' find in his yard

GLENDALE, Ariz. (KSAZ) -- A man in Glendale has made a rare discovery in his yard. The find is so rare, in fact, that it is the first find of its kind in the Valley, and only the fifth across the state.

The really freaky thing is that for most of us, it's probably just a rock -- but Cody Horvath saw something more.

"It looked like it had been on fire and it looked like it hit pretty hard, so at that point, I thought this might be a meteorite," he said. "Found out there is such a thing as Chondrite stone meteorite. Once I found that out, it looked very similar to the meteorite pictures that I found."

Dr. Laurence Garvie, one of the world's leading experts in meteorites who teaches at Arizona State University, is now studying the meteorite.
