First baby of year at 12:01 a.m.

NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - Hospitals around the country claim to have given birth to the first baby of the year but this one is definitely a contender.

This little girl was born at Flushing Hospital at 12:01 a.m. this morning.  She doesn't have a name yet but was 4 lbs and 11.5 ounces and is 18 inches long.

Her mother is 25-year-old Tania Shirin.  Both mother and baby are doing well, according to hospital staff.
