'Explosive' diarrhea linked to veggie trays
NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - Hundreds of people have been infected by an outbreak of parasites linked to recalled vegetable trays from Del Monte.
There have been more than 200 cases of cyclosporiasis – an intestinal infection caused by the cyclospora parasite. One symptom includes "explosive" bowel movements. At least seven people have been hospitalized.
The CDC says people have been sickened in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Michigan.
The products were recalled by Del Monte and had a "best if enjoyed by" date of June 17th on them but illnesses are still being reported.
The trays contained broccoli, cauliflower, celery sticks, carrots, and dill dip.
