Protesters drowned out a speech Monday morning by Debbie Wasserman Schultz to the delegation from her home state of Florida.

Outgoing Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schulz did not gavel in the Democratic party at the national convention in Philadelphia Monday.

Schulz made the announcement via a newspaper from her home state of Florida.

This comes after a string of events including protesters from the Florida delegation drowning out her speech during a breakfast kick-off.

"You're ruining our democracy," chanted the crowd.

Wasserman Schultz announced Sunday she would step down from the party chairmanship after the convention this week.

She was pressured to resign after hacked emails revealed the DNC may have favored Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders during the party's presidential primaries.
