Crash causes problems at Lincoln Tunnel

A tractor trailer overturned on the outbound helix of the Lincoln Tunnel on Wednesday morning causing big headaches.

All of the outbound lanes of Route 495 leading away from the tunnel were closed.  The closure was also impacting the express bus lanes, which were closed as part of the crash investigation.

A local road that travels under the impacted area of route 495 was closed.  That was impacting New York bound traffic on 495 because of back-ups to get onto surface streets.

The outbound problems were causing long delays for bus commuters because the busses were having trouble getting to New Jersey from the Port Authority bus terminal in Manhattan.  NJ Transit was cross-honoring bus passes on trains for customers who were stranded.

Inbound delays were already at 45 minutes before 7 a.m.
