American women are having fewer children than ever before, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics.

The general fertility rate declined two percent between 2017 and 2018 among girls and women aged 15 to 44, while the teen birth rate dropped seven percent in the same time frame.

This news comes after a separate report revealed that the nation’s total fertility rate was beneath what is needed for the population to replace itself.
