Bronx apartment fire leaves 1 dead, dozens of units respond

BRONX - A deadly multi-alarm fire tore through a residential building in the Belmont section of the Bronx on Tuesday afternoon, prompting a massive response from the FNDY and leaving one civilian dead.
What we know:
According to the FDNY, the fire was reported at 2:48 p.m. at 660 East 187th Street, between Belmont Avenue and Cambreleng Avenue. The blaze broke out in a five-story dwelling and quickly spread across multiple floors.
The FDNY confirmed that the incident escalated to a fourth-alarm response, bringing 74 units and 231 fire and EMS personnel to the scene.
Officials reported that one civilian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Crews remain on-site working to bring the fire under control and investigate its cause.
