Angry passenger causes 5 hour flight delay

A passenger onboard a United Express flight from Indianapolis to Newark, forced all of the passengers to be removed from the plane and stranding them for 5 hours until they could be put onto another flight.

It happened about 7 p.m. Monday evening on United Express Flight 3708.  The airline says that a customer was asked to check her oversized bag but she refused.

It a statement, the airline said:  "She became verbally abusive to the crew and they asked her to leave the aircraft. The customer refused and all customers were asked to deplane."

The airline said to "minimize the inconvenience to our customers" it arranged for a different aircraft to make the flight.  That flight didn't take off until after 12:00 a.m. the next day, more than five hours after the original flight was scheduled to depart.

It was unclear if the woman faced any charges for the disruption.
