9th NYPD officer commits suicide this year
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Yet another New York City police officer has taken his own life, becoming the ninth officer to commit suicide so far in 2019.
The 56-year-old off-duty officer was apparently found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his Laurelton home in Queens on Wednesday evening.
The officer, a 25-year veteran of the force, has not yet been identified. The suicide is the seventh since June and the second this week alone.
