9th NYPD officer commits suicide this year

Yet another New York City police officer has taken his own life, becoming the ninth officer to commit suicide so far in 2019.

The 56-year-old off-duty officer was apparently found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his Laurelton home in Queens on Wednesday evening.

The officer, a 25-year veteran of the force, has not yet been identified.  The suicide is the seventh since June and the second this week alone.
