Fingerboarding builds creativity, focus and community in NYC

Fingerboarding may look like a miniature skateboard toy, but for a growing community it has become a creative outlet, a competitive sport and a way to build focus and confidence. Pop Up Parks brought a mini skate park to the FOX 5 newsroom to show how the tiny boards and obstacles work. The Queens-based group has a space in Chelsea and hosts events for fingerboarders of all ages, including kids and young adults. Organizers say the hobby offers a safe, welcoming space and can be especially meaningful for young people in the autism community.
