Cabs in NYC may add surge pricing to compete with ride-hailing companies

If you?ve ever ordered an Uber or a Lyft on a Saturday night or a rainy day, you know how surge pricing works. The price can as much as triple when demand is high. But now, a new proposal from the city?s Taxi Medallion Task Force wants to allow yellow cab drivers to do the same thing.
