Assemblyman?s proposal would have beer sales help fund public colleges

A new bill proposed by State Assemblyman Harvey Epstein calls for raising the state tax on beer from 14 cents a gallon to 30 cents, the same number as the state?s wine tax. The extra revenue would go towards funding CUNY and SUNY schools.
