Passenger killed on Southwest flight
Not long after taking off from LaGuardia Airport, Southwest Flight 1380 was cruising at 32,000 feet when the left engine exploded. Shrapnel from the engine hit a window, breaking it open mid-flight, causing a woman to be partially sucked out. Several of the passengers jumped into action and pulled her back in. But the woman didn't survive. She was identified as Jennifer Riordan, a mother of two from New Mexico and vice president of community relations for Wells Fargo Bank.
