Hurricane Jose passes south of Long Island

While homeowners in lower-lying communities farther east on Long Island prepared for the prediction of minor coastal flooding due to Hurricane Jose, residents in Lindenhurst barely found that mid-Tuesday evening. Gov. Cuomo sent a hundred members of the National Guard and a fleet of high-axle vehicles to Long Island just in case Jose proved more destructive than forecasters anticipated.
