Mangione hearing day 7: Officers defend backpack search

Day 7 of pretrial hearings for accused CEO killer Luigi Mangione brought new testimony from Altoona police supervisors, who described why they searched Mangione’s backpack without a warrant the day he was arrested at a Pennsylvania McDonald’s. Prosecutors argue the search was lawful as a “search incident to arrest,” while the defense insists New York law requires a warrant and wants key evidence—including the alleged murder weapon and notebook—thrown out. With 11 witnesses already called, the hearing is expected to stretch into a third week. FOX 5 NY’s Jessica Formoso reports.
