A firefighter battling a fire in Queens fell several stories and died Thursday afternoon. William Tolley, 42, fell five stories from the bucket of a fire ladder. He was taken to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center where he died. Firefighter Tolley is survived by his wife, Marie, and his daughter, Isabella.

The MTA police officer was taking a shortcut in the Soundview section of the Bronx when he witnessed a young man carjacking an FDNY ambulance. The thief ran over EMT Yadira Arroyo, dragging her down the street and killing her.

A man accused of stealing an ambulance and then driving it over a fire department medic, crushing her to death, told reporters he isn't guilty as he was escorted out of a police station Friday surrounded by angry uniformed emergency medical technicians, who hurled insults.

New York City's Department of Investigation is reportedly looking into allegations of hazing within the FDNY. The DOI is randomly interviewing rookie firefighters with two years on the job to determine whether "a culture of hazing" exists within the department, according to the Uniformed Firefighters Association.
