White woman backs away from claim that black child groped her

A white woman made a startling accusation against a 9-year-old black boy in Brooklyn. Video of her outburst quickly went viral. But people who were there said she made it all up. Now she is claiming she may have been mistaken.

"I was just sexually assaulted by a child," a woman dubbed "Cornerstore Caroline" is heard saying on cell phone video that caught fire online.

But her name is Teresa Klein. She claimed she called the NYPD to allege that a 9-year-old boy grabbed her buttock as he walked behind her inside their local deli. The incident caused an immediate commotion outside the store. (And on social media.)

Jason LittleJohn shot the video of the aftermath. In the background, you can hear the cries of the child that Klein said disrespected her. You can also hear people saying, "Are you seriously calling the police?"

Security camera video from inside the bodega shows the young boy walking behind Klein while she is at the register. He is holding a bottle in his right hand. An adult appears to hold the boy's left hand.

We asked Klein to explain what happened. She said she is not a racist and is no longer sure the boy grabbed her.

"I called 911 because this woman was very aggressive," she said. "I thought it was the child."

Klein said that she believes the reporters who viewed the security camera footage that the boy does not appear to touch her.

Fox 5 reached out to NYPD about the incident. The department said it has no record of any 911 calls or complaint reports for that address in October.
