Video: Woman charged with DWI in hit and run

A woman feared for her life and the lives of her children when an SUV crossed the road and slammed into her car.  It was a busy intersection on what seemed like a routine day,  then out of no-where, an SUV crossed the median, ran over a sign and struck a mini-van that was recording it all on dashcam.

As bystanders tried to help out, the driver of the SUV backed up, struck another vehicle, then sped off once  again hitting the mini-van... This time, when watching the video, you can hear the young children and mother inside scream.

The driver of the SUV, 53 year-old Linda Spina, was later arrested and charged with a DWI.

After the accident, Spina was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries and released.

On Friday, following an arraignment, she was released from custody on her own recognizance.

No one answered the door at Spina's home in Selden.
The driver of the minivan is Yana Krasnov, a Farmingdale resident. She spoke with us by phone and said she was riding in the car with her 2 daughters.

“When it happened the 2nd time, it was like she was trying to kill us” she said.

She said her children are ok, but is disappointed additional charges weren't filed again Spina.

Spina is due back in court in early November.
